WooCommerce: index seasonal collections before peak traffic hits
Seasonal e-commerce SEO is a planning problem disguised as an execution problem. The collections you publish in October for Black Friday need to be indexed by early November. Letting Google's organic crawl handle it is rolling dice on your most profitable two weeks of the year.
The seasonal indexing calendar
- T-6 weeks: publish the collection page and a few priority product pages.
- T-6 weeks: push every URL through IndexerNow. Audit each one.
- T-4 weeks: status-check. Confirm Indexed verdict on the collection + top products.
- T-2 weeks: push any URLs still not indexed. Audit for content issues.
- Launch week: re-push if you've updated anything (prices, hero copy, structured data).
Pages that benefit most
- Top-level collection page (/shop/black-friday).
- Gift guide blog posts ("10 best gifts for X").
- Comparison pages ("X vs Y for the holidays").
- Sale-specific landing pages with custom URLs.
Reusing the same /shop/black-friday URL year after year accumulates ranking signal. If you delete it post-season, you start from zero next year. Keep it, update the content annually, push on update.
Product-page strategy
Don't push every product. Push the top 20-50 you expect to drive traffic. Long-tail products can rely on the organic crawl. Wasting credits on low-traffic SKUs is how you run out of budget before launch.
