Indexceptional vs. IndexerNow: backlinks you don't own, or pages you do
Indexceptional is built for link builders: submit a URL, it goes out through several channels in parallel, and you get a per-URL report including the response code it saw. That works on any URL, including backlinks on sites you've never touched. IndexerNow can't do that, and doesn't try — it submits through Google's official Indexing API, which only accepts properties you've verified in Search Console. Can IndexerNow replace Indexceptional for backlink indexing?
Not for backlinks on domains you don't control. Google's Indexing API only accepts URLs on a property verified in your Search Console, so third-party links are outside what IndexerNow can submit to Google. That is the job Indexceptional is built for. Where IndexerNow fits is your own pages, where it can also tell you what Google said about them.
Which one tells me whether a URL actually indexed?
Both report, from different places. Indexceptional checks the URL itself and reports what its own crawler saw. IndexerNow queries Google's URL Inspection API and shows you Google's own coverage state and last crawl date for the page — the same answer you'd get in Search Console, in bulk.
