How to make your Wix site searchable on Google

Wix generates your sitemap and renders for crawlers — the fixes are a couple of settings and a crawl nudge.

Sitemap location

https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml

Modern Wix renders pages server-side and auto-generates a sitemap at /sitemap.xml, so the old "Wix sites can't be found on Google" reputation is out of date. When a Wix site isn't searchable today, it's almost always one of a handful of settings — or Google just hasn't crawled the new pages yet.

Where your sitemap lives

Wix publishes it at yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml automatically. Submit that URL in Google Search Console. Wix also exposes SEO controls under each page's settings and a site-wide SEO dashboard (Marketing & SEO → SEO Tools).

Make sure the site is actually searchable

  • Site-wide: in Settings → SEO, confirm "Let search engines index your site" is ON. This single toggle hides the entire site when off.
  • Per page: each page's SEO Basics tab has a "Show this page in search results" toggle — make sure it's on for pages you want indexed.
  • Connect a custom domain and publish — a site left on the free yoursite.wixsite.com/name URL is weaker and not what you want indexed.
  • Members-only and password-protected pages can't be indexed; that's expected.
  • Hidden pages (removed from the menu) can still be indexed if published and not noindexed — visibility in the menu is separate from search visibility.

Step by step

  1. Turn on "Let search engines index your site" in the SEO settings.
  2. Connect and publish your custom domain.
  3. Verify the domain in Google Search Console (Wix has a built-in connection under SEO Tools).
  4. Submit https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml.
  5. For pages that still aren't indexing, confirm the per-page search toggle is on, then push the URL through the Indexing API for a faster crawl.

Point IndexerNow at your sitemap, then push new and updated URLs through Google's Indexing API and IndexNow on your own account and quota — no plugin, no code.

Frequently asked

How do I make my Wix site searchable on Google?

Turn on "Let search engines index your site" in Settings → SEO, connect a custom domain and publish, verify the site in Google Search Console, and submit yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. New pages index faster if you push them directly rather than waiting for Google to find them.

Does Google index Wix sites?

Yes. Wix renders pages server-side and auto-generates a sitemap, so Google indexes Wix sites like any other. The old indexing complaints predate Wix's switch to server-side rendering.

Why is one Wix page not in search?

Check that page's SEO Basics tab for the "Show this page in search results" toggle, make sure it isn't members-only or password-protected, and confirm you're looking at the custom-domain URL. Then submit the URL to prompt a crawl.
