The limits, in plain numbers

  • Indexing API: 200 publish requests/day per Google Cloud project (the default; you can request more).
  • URL Inspection API: 2,000 queries/day and 600/minute per Search Console property.
  • Search Analytics API: 1,200 queries/minute, no fixed daily cap.

FAQ

What is the Google Indexing API quota?
200 publish requests per day per Google Cloud project by default. The quota belongs to the Cloud project, not the Search Console property or the Google account, so every property that project's service account owns draws on the same 200. Google can raise it on request.
What is the URL Inspection API quota?
2,000 queries per day and 600 per minute, per Search Console property. Unlike the Indexing API it is counted per property, so adding service accounts or Cloud projects does not raise it.
When do the quotas reset?
Daily quotas reset at midnight Pacific Time, not at midnight where you are and not 24 hours after your first request.
What happens when I go over?
Google returns HTTP 429 with a RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED status and the request is not processed. Nothing is queued on Google's side: the URL has to be submitted again after the reset.
How do I get more Indexing API quota?
Request an increase in Google Cloud Console under IAM & Admin, Quotas, for the Indexing API's publish quota; approval is at Google's discretion. The other route is more projects: each Cloud project carries its own 200/day, with its service account added as an Owner in Search Console.
