Carrd

Why isn't my Carrd page showing up in AI answers?

Short answer

A Carrd page is one small HTML file, so crawlers read all of it instantly — the problem is there's rarely enough on it to cite. Assistants quote sources that answer a specific question; a name, a tagline, and three links doesn't answer anything, no matter how well it's marked up.

What Carrd lets you control

AI visibility is mostly decided by what the platform will and won't let you change. Here's where Carrd stands.

Sitemap
Usually none — a Carrd site is a single URL — A one-page Carrd site doesn't need a sitemap; submit the URL itself. Multi-page Pro sites can list their handful of URLs manually.
robots.txt
Limited control. Carrd manages robots.txt. Pro plans give you meta and head control, but not per-crawler rules.
Rendering
Carrd outputs a single small static HTML file — about as crawler-friendly as it gets.
Hiding a page
Carrd Pro lets you add a noindex meta tag through the page's custom head code; there's no toggle.
Custom head code
Pro plans allow custom head code per page, which is where JSON-LD and meta tags go.
llms.txt
A single-page site's content is already fully visible in one fetch — llms.txt would add nothing.

What stops a Carrd page being cited

  • One page means one topic. You can realistically be cited for one narrow question, not a subject area.
  • Sections on a Carrd page aren't separate URLs, so an assistant can't link to a specific answer — it links to the whole page or not at all.
  • Free-tier carrd.co subdomains carry no authority and read as a placeholder.
  • Without Pro you can't add JSON-LD at all, so structured answers aren't available on the free plan.
  • Carrd pages are often mostly images with the text baked in. Anything not in the HTML doesn't exist to an assistant.

How to make your Carrd page quotable by AI assistants

  1. 1Move to Pro and a custom domain if you want to be citable at all.
  2. 2Pick the single question your page should own, and make it a real H2 with a one-sentence answer beneath it.
  3. 3Replace image-based text with real text.
  4. 4Add Person or Organization JSON-LD, plus FAQ markup if you answer more than one question, through Pro's custom head code.
  5. 5If you need to be found for more than one thing, a one-pager is the wrong tool — that's a genuine platform limit, not a settings problem.

Check what ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity actually see when they fetch your page — crawler access, extractable answers, structured data — then fix the gaps we find.

Carrd and AI search: common questions

Can a Carrd site rank in AI answers?

For one narrow question, yes — a personal name, a specific product, a single service. For anything broader, a one-page site simply doesn't contain enough distinct answers to be cited.

Can I add schema markup to Carrd?

Only on Pro, through the page's custom head code. The free plan gives no head access.

Does Carrd need a sitemap?

No. A single URL is discovered from any link to it; submit the URL directly rather than building a sitemap for one page.
